Reviews:
“The CGI moments are weak.
This is an entertaining alien anthology film, it is nice that they are
all connected in some way which helps with the meeting, rather than just
having random stories.” Movie Reviews 101
“There’s a lot of probing in
this film. The wraparound story reunites six people who have encountered
aliens in a support group. The actors are convincing, and the stories
are all compelling, which is no small achievement in the world of horror
anthology films these days.” Steve Hutchison, Tales of Terror
“The idea behind Xenophobia is an
interesting one, but the ambition to try and do too much with a low
budget greatly limits what ends up being this movie. Every story has the
potential to be intriguing, but they were not well crafted or brought
to the screen.” Dante Yurei, 10th Circle
” …there’s more potential for quirky parody
than legit frights in this and it’s by accepting that this becomes one
of those so bad it’s good things, especially if you’re already a fan of
late 80s practical effects and cheesy acting. This will greatly improve
your viewing experience.” David Duprey, That Moment In
Background:
“Xenophobia is an
accumulation of actual alien events and encounters that have been
documented over the years,” said co-Director Steven Escobar. “Teaming up
with Joe Castro and Thomas J Churchill who co-wrote and co-directed the
film with me, we were able to bring these stories to the screen using
state of the art of special effects which we’re really proud of. Xenophobia is further proof that indie filmmakers can present epic stories and great effects without a studio budget.”
“Xenophobia was a chance of a
lifetime for me as an artist and a filmmaker,” said Joe Castro, “it
allowed us to create full-scale alien creatures… something that I have
always dreamed of as a child.”
“Spending so much of my career in the horror and action space prepared me for Xenophobia,
which is my first science fiction film,” said Thomas J. Churchill. “It
was a truly organic transition and I could not have asked for a better
team and partners to have done this with than Castro and Escobar.”
